INTRODUCTION.
Wow first post ever huh, probably should’ve made this when I first made this account. Okay by popular demand of that one friend who know who he is. I’ve decided to actually put down in writing my recent brainstorming session on a concept for an Undertale game/AH (or Alternate History). Instead of going the usual AU routes (looking at you entirety of Undertale Fandom) it would be a story set in the times before the Monster and Human war that were depicted in the introductory cutscene of Undertale. To properly organize it I’ll try using the ‘ol reliable Four W’s and H that any story structure needs follow along and bare with me.
WHEN?
Based on what was depicted in Undertale, the story would take place in medieval time, somewhere in the thirteenth century (1191-1257??) as a rough estimate. In the coming weeks or days before the war between human and monsters truly began and of which the tensions between both species were at an all time high.
WHERE?
It would take place in the surrounding lands and forest of Mt.Ebott, where there once stood at it’s base the Monster Kingdom and on the other side of the forest that surrounded them was the neighbouring Human Kingdom, both of which no longer stand by present day’s time.
WHO?
The story would have the prince of the Human Kingdom, Prince Frolick, be the main character and his royal family and their feud with the ruling family of the Monster Kingdom, the Dreemurs. Along the way you’d meet other human and monsters characters
WHAT?
The story would be about the death of the Princess of the human kingdom and her body found in the wood next to a monster’s dust remains. With this situation nearly setting off both sides to war with an ultimatum that if the culprit of the incident not be brought to Justice, both sides will wage war against each other in retribution, with Prince Frolick in the middle having to solve the mystery of his late sister’s passing to prevent a war.
HOW?
So the events (or the way the would-be game would be structured) would be like a over arching murder mystery that slowly unravels as the Prince travels from kingdoms to kingdoms in disguises helping the local running errands and solving smaller little mysteries throughout both kingdom, finding clues, gathering information and gathering allies and accomplices from both sides would be core mechanics that would help the plot develop and flesh out the themes of the story.
CONCLUSION.
Yeah that’s what I have so far with this idea, Now I’ll probably start posting concept art and stuff about it moving forward so at least people can go to this for reference whenever I post about it and they have no clue what it’s depicting. Also I’d love to hear feedback or critique on the idea, always help to improve and id love to get to interact with more folks here. In any case I’m not sure if I’ll have more of these “blogs” made but hopefully so as it’s pretty engaging to to do stuff like this, toodles!
